On January 8, the LNG fueled 16,000TEU container ship“MSC CARMELA”was named and delivered for MSC by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd.(DSIC) and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., marking good start for the new year.
DSIC deputy general manager Lin Jiming and other relevant leaders attended the ceremony.
The ship has overall length of about 366 meters, beam of 51 meters, depth of 30.2 meters, design draft of 14.5 meters and structural draft of 17 meters. It can carry 16,044 standard containers and 1,800 reefer containers. Meanwhile, it possesses class symbols such as enhanced fire-fighting and one-person driving, which maximizes the green energy-saving and environmental protection of the ship as well as the safety and economy of the operation. Equipped with dual-fuel main engine, generator and boiler, the ship is arranged with double islands at the front and rear, which is suitable for navigation in unlimited navigation area and meets the requirements of the latest specification rules and various pollution gas emission standards.
During the shipbuilding, the project team and the assembly department optimize the process reasonably, and improve the integrity of the docking from the experience of the first ship, and optimize the process technology on the basis of the original refueling procedure during the LNG refueling process, and the project team, the assembly department, the Research Institute of the DMS, and other related departments scientifically organize the construction and work continuously, which makes the time of inerting the B-type tanks, cooling the tanks, and replacing the tanks greatly shorten compared with that of the first ship, and saves the time of the LNG refueling operation. During the trial voyage, the commanding officer of the trial voyage organized the construction. During the trial voyage, the Trial Command Department centered on the dual-fuel main engine, axle generator and FGSS gas supply system, broke through all the difficulties in the trial voyage, and completed all the inspection items of the first “fuel oil+gas” two-in-one trial voyage in only 6 days.
The successful delivery of the ship further enhanced market position and brand effect for DSIC in the field of large container vessels, consolidated close cooperation with the worldwide mainstream liner companies, and provided solid support for Chinese shipbuilding independent brand to play a leading role in international arena. |
