Grasp Key Points to Overcome Difficulties! No. 1 155,000dwt Shuttle Tanker Returned from Successful Trial Sail

On March 1, the first 155,000dwt shuttle tanker built by DSIC for Shanghai Northsea Shipping Corporation returned from triumphant trial sail.

This ship is a new generation of DP2 class dynamic positioning shuttle tanker built by DSIC for Shanghai Northsea Shipping Corporation. With fully independent intellectual property rights, it is classified as DNV only, and serves the offshore oil field project of CNOOC in Brazil. It is also the first Suez-class shuttle tanker ordered by domestic shipowner, achieving dual breakthrough in domestic shipping and shipbuilding industry.

The ship has a closed-loop power distribution system that meets the requirements of DP2, including one main propeller with adjustable pitch, two side thrusters, and three omnidirectional thrusters. It is also the first project for DSIC headquarter to build DP2 system. The closed-loop power distribution system can reduce the number of generators online at the same time, improve the redundancy of dynamic  positioning system, and has the characteristics of energy saving and consumption reduction, improving equipment operation efficiency and prolonging the service life of generators. It is equipped with a highly integrated central control system that can monitor and control all main equipment and systems on ship. Meanwhile, a new generation of bow loading system is equipped to meet the operational requirements of shuttle tankers in Norwegian North Sea and Brazilian waters.

During mooring stage, due to the complexity of the generator and switchboard power distribution system, Dock Department 2 deployed elite debugging force to speed up the work, greatly shortening the debugging period. For thrusters and bow loading equipment, the installation details were controlled to ensure installation accuracy and improve regional integrity. During the Spring Festival holiday, the project team, Dock Department 2 and the design institute gave up rest and resumed production ten days in advance to ensure trial integrity.

During the trial, faced with the debugging of DP systems with various thrusters combinations and complex closed-loop power distribution system, the trial command post arranged plans scientifically and efficiently, interspersed the commissioning of DP system with conventional test items to ensure the continuity of the trial. Meanwhile, considering the technical characteristics of multiple DP FMEA tests and multiple interfaces, resources were adjusted in timely manner. The project team, design institute, Dock Department 2 and other related units were divided into two alternate shifts for 24 hours non-stop, combining the DP CAT test with the DP FMEA test items (81 major items including more than 620 minor items). The final CAT test and FMEA test were completed in only 6 days. The bow loading system used the trial period for commissioning and system delivery, while the FMEA test of the bow loading system was completed (19 items including 121 items). Finally, the ship returned 3 days ahead of schedule, fully demonstrating the striving attitude of DSIC to sprint and fight decisively at the beginning.
