On December 5, the 85,000dwt multipurpose pulp carrier Neptune, the fifth vessel in the series built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (CSIC Dalian Shipyard) for CITIC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., was named and delivered.
Attendees included Li Ying, Vice President of CITIC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd.; Li Jichun, Chief Accountant of COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd.; Sun Zhen, Deputy General Manager of Beijing COSCO Shipping Ship Trading Co., Ltd.; and relevant officials from Dalian Shipyard.
The vessel boasts outstanding comprehensive performance, featuring high pulp transport specialization, broad cargo adaptability, excellent economy, superior environmental friendliness, and advanced intelligent capabilities. It meets the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III requirements while achieving carbon emissions 50% below baseline. It can accommodate diverse cargoes including high-speed trains, wind power equipment, new energy vehicles, large machinery, and oversized steel pipe pile structures. Enhanced safety features include a dedicated thermal imaging monitoring system and early warning system, ensuring secure transport of pulp and other goods.
Shanhaiguan Heavy Industry overcame multiple complex technical challenges, including the application of back-loaded hatch covers for multi-purpose pulp carriers, integration of a full-ship dehumidification system, and high-precision construction. As the crowning achievement, the Neptune project team innovated processes and management by advancing the installation of container slots in cargo holds to the final assembly phase, reducing the critical construction cycle from 35 to 14 days. The superstructure hoisting adopted a “dual-crane coordination” integrated solution, significantly boosting construction efficiency. All systems operate smoothly and reliably, with overall construction integrity reaching industry-leading standards, providing a solid foundation for subsequent high-efficiency operations. |
