DSIC First Collaboration With NYK Group to Create New Shipping Benchmark as Good Start in Business

Recently, DSIC Industry Co., Ltd.(DSIC) of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited(CSSC) ushered in a good startin business - signingcontract of 33,000 DWT deck carriers with NBP (NYK Bulk &Projects Carriers Ltd.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line). The cooperation is not only the first heavyweight order of DSIC in 2025, but also the first new shipbuilding cooperation with the top Japanese shipowner, which adds another color to the deep synergy between China and Japan in the field of high-end equipment manufacturing. He Xu, vice general manager of DSIC, and Hasegawa Niinie, general manager of NBP Modular Transportation Department, attended the signing ceremony.

Technology Leading, Green and Intelligent Vessels Empowering Global Logistics

The contracted deck carrier is tailor-made for the transportation of large modular equipment, classified by Nippon Keizai (NK) and flying the Panama flag. Its wide deck design and high load capacity can meet the transportation needs of offshore wind power equipment, petrochemical modules and other ultra-large cargoes, and significantly improve the efficiency of global special logistics. The vessel is developed by Shanghai Shipbuilding Research & Design Institute (SSRDI) under CSIC, and DSIC is responsible for the production design and construction. It is scheduled to be delivered in 2027, injecting “fresh blood” into NBP's fleet, helping it to renew and upgrade its fleet and realize green upgrading.

Strong Partnership, Sino-Japanese Flagship Enterprises Expanding Blue Ocean Market

NBP, as the only shipping company in Japan operating heavy lift vessels and deck carriers, enjoys a good reputation in the fields of modular transportation, project logistics and bulk cargo logistics, etc. This cooperation is the first of its kind between DSIC and NBP. This cooperation is the “ice-breaking work” between DSIC and NYK's subsidiary.

At the signing ceremony, He Xu, Deputy General Manager of DSIC, said: "This cooperation not only highlights the high recognition of Chinese shipbuilding technology by international customers, but also opens a new window for DSIC to connect with the Japanese high-end ship market. We will empower quality delivery with lean manufacturing, and join hands with NBP to build a golden bridge across the sea."

Mr. Hasegawa, General Manager of NBP's Module Transportation Department, said, "We chose DSIC because of its excellent engineering strength, good performance reputation and commitment to this project. These vessels will significantly enhance our core competitiveness and provide more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation solutions for our global customers."

Anchoring the “Double Carbon” Goal and Drawing New Blueprint for Shipping

The Japanese market is known for its high technological threshold and stringent standards, and this cooperation is undoubtedly an important bridge for DSIC to enter the high-end shipping market in East Asia. In recent years, DSIC has continued to cultivate green ships, intelligent equipment and other cutting-edge fields, and has delivered a number of world-first vessels, with its technical reserves and brand influence ranking among the world's first-class ranks. The order for NBP is a strong endorsement of “China's Intelligent Manufacturing”, and also presses the accelerator button for the deep integration of the industrial chain between China and Japan.
